BIOGRAPHY
Matthew Bauer is an Award-winning film director, producer and writer. He was born and raised in Australia on a diet of Bond films, labyrinthine thrillers and Errol Morris documentaries before attending NYU Film School.
Matt traveled the globe for ten years meeting and filming the lives of real men named James Bond for the 2022 documentary The Other Fellow. It was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the National Film Awards, Austin Film Festival and DocEdge Film Festival and longlisted for Best Debut Director (Documentary) at the British Independent Film Awards. It won an Award at DocEdge Film Festival and the Human Spirit Award at the Chagrin Documentary Film Festival.
The film was released in USA, UK and European cinemas in 2023 - attaining a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes before it’s streaming release on Amazon’s Prime Video in USA and ITVX in the UK. Internationally, the film is available on Apple TV, Canal+, Tubi, The Roku Channel, Sky Store, Youtube, Viaplay, Google Play Store, Xbox, Microsoft Store, SBS on Demand and Docplay as well as Emirates and American Airlines inflight.

A passionate sobriety advocate, his next documentary feature unmasks alcohol as a global epidemic of the drug ETHANOL, revealing a society in mass denial that its usage fuels more crises—rape, assault, shootings, murder, incarceration and death itself—than all other drugs combined.
He currently resides in London, England.
